EXAMINATIONS

The IPM offers two qualifications, Diploma (DIPM) and Membership (MIPM). Our examinations are open to doctors (GPs, GUM, O&G, family planning, dermatology, psychiatry, urology) and AHPs (nurses, physiotherapists, health advisers and others working in sexual health).

The exams take the form of case presentation and discussion. There is currently no submission of written work. 

Diploma (DIPM): 

The aim of the Diploma examination is to assess basic skills in psychosexual medicine.
Requirements:
  • minimum requirement 48 hours of Regular Seminar Training over a minimum of six terms (two years)
  • must have attended an IPM Introductory Training Course (12 hours)
  • meet conditions laid out in the IPM Diploma Guidelines
  • minimum Face to Face requirement applies - see IPM Diploma Guidelines
  • 24 hours of the minimum 48 hour requirement must be from attending Seminars in the year prior to sitting the Diploma Examination - see IPM Diploma Guidelines
Diplomates are required to recertify every five years and to pay the annual Diplomate subscription of £120 - subscriptions

Membership (MIPM):

The aim of the Membership examination is to assess specialist skills in psychosexual medicine and competence to work in specialist referral settings or independent practice.
Requirements:
  • is an IPM Diplomate (DIPM)
  • minimum requirement a further 48 hours of Regular Seminar Training post Diploma exam over a minimum of six terms (two years)
  • meet conditions laid out in the IPM Membership Guidelines
Members are required to recertify every five years and to pay the annual Membership subscription of £180 - subscriptions
