Gearoid Fitzgerald is a psychoanalyst in private practice following his retirement as a Consultant Psychiatrist in Psychotherapy in the NHS. He is a past President of the UK Balint Society. Balint groups are a specific psychoanalytic method of focussing on the clinician/patient relationship that is neither supervision nor routine case discussion.
